Scuba Diving

Scuba diving in Costa Rica is great for both new divers and highly experienced divers looking to explore the underwater world. The nutrient-rich coastal waters and undersea rock formations, combine to create a diving experience that is unique to this area. Offshore at the Catalinas Islands, you will be exploring volcanic rock formations that are home to a wide variety of marine life. Typical marina animals include sea turtles, eagle rays and moray eels. Seahorses, octopi and white tip reef sharks are also frequently seen in this area.

Whether you are interested in a discovery course, coming to Costa Rica to get certified or are simply looking for a guide to join you on your open water dive, we can connect you to the correct organization. Safety is of our utmost importance in the water!

The Catalinas Islands are among the top destinations for both snorkeling and scuba diving in Costa Rica. The itinerary for this tour varies depending on your experience level, but generally the scuba experience will end with a 40-minute dive offshore at the Catalinas Islands.

If you have never been scuba diving before, you will begin with classes in the pool at either your vacation rental or one of the local facilities. You will go through multiple days of instruction in which you will learn how to safely dive from an experienced instructor. You can choose the discovery course which will be a basic introductory course, or if you would like to get certified, you will have a more in-depth training. For both of these options, you will have the opportunity to dive at the Catalinas Islands after a few training courses.

If you are certified and comfortable with the process, we will set out from Flamingo Marina by boat and head straight to the Catalinas Islands. About 45 minutes offshore, we will arrive at the iconic volcanic rock formations and prepare for our dive. We will spend 40 minutes in two different spots and you will enjoy a two-tank diving experience. One of the most incredible things about diving in this area, is that the wildlife can be somewhat unpredictable so you are never certain what you will get!
