Palo Verde Wildlife Cruise
The Palo Verde boat tour is especially great for those interested in bird watching as it is a key spot for migrant birds from the Americas. Birds that have been spotted include: Great Curassows, Scarlet Macaws, White Ibis, Roseate Spoonbills, Anhingas, Jabirus, and Wood Storks, among many others. Crocodiles, white-nosed coatis, white-tailed deer, howler and capuchin monkeys are also commonly seen. If you are looking for a great day trip and are interested in a guided wildlife tour, this is a great option. It is highly recommended for families, senior citizens and anyone who has difficulty walking long distances.
We will pick you up from your hotel or vacation rental at 7:00 AM and set out for Palo Verde National Park. It takes approximately an hour and a half to reach our destination and once there, we will take a guided boat tour down the river in search of wildlife. On board a 20-25-person motor boat, we will cruise leisurely down the Tempisque River while keen-eyed guides teach us about the local flora and fauna. You will be able to ask questions, learn about why this area is such a hot spot for migratory birds and get some really great photos along the way. While December-April is the recommended visitation season, there are plenty of animals to see year-round. After our two-hour guided wildlife tour, we will stop for a delicious local lunch before heading back to the meeting point. This is a full-day tour that will last about 9 hours in total.
